Tameside: Minutes Away from a market of 2.7 million people.
Direct links to the M60 link Tameside with the motorway network, giving easy access to Manchester International Airport and locations along the M60 corridor and beyond. Access to the motorway network bring all the major cities and coast in Britain within easy reach. Travel around the borough is being further improved with major physical works on two pinch point schemes to aid congestion on major roundabouts and the recent opening of the Ashton Northern bypass.
Local routes connect Tameside to all Manchester stations and major towns in the North West. Journey times to London are just over 2 hours soon to be cut significantly with the high speed rail link. Regular trains from 13 local stations covering four lines make getting around the borough and beyond easy.
The recent opening of the new line between Manchester, Droylsden and Ashton creates yet another way of connecting the borough to the city centre. The line also covers Oldham, Eccles, Altrincham and Bury providing excellent connectivity.
Transport links to Manchester International airport with its three passenger terminals and freight terminal are excellent. It has direct access from the M56 and M6 motorways that links seamlessly with the M60. It also has its own dedicated railway station. The airport connects Tameside and the Greater Manchester family with the rest of the world. It caters from more than 19 million passengers a year to more than 200 destinations across the world. Negotiations are currently underway to provide direct flights to China from Manchester international airport providing a vital link to this growing economic market.
With excellent connectivity, the port of Liverpool, currently enjoying a resurgence of its cruise business, is just over an hour away affording links with Ireland. To the North, Hull is under 3 hours away linking the borough with the continent.
100% of the borough’s population has the possibility to access the Internet using broadband and all of the borough’s businesses have the same opportunity. Greater Manchester has successfully won a bid to bring high speed broadband into the conurbation and Tameside will benefit from this from 2015.
