Coronation Star opens Clarendon Sixth Form College
Clarendon Sixth Form College held its official opening ceremony on Wednesday 9th March 2016 between 2pm and 4pm. The new £10 million centre was opened by Coronation Street star, Brooke Vincent.
Brooke attended Fairfield High School for Girls. She then went on to study drama at a College in Manchester. Brooke’s repertoire includes appearing in the cult comedy, A League of Gentleman. She also writes a weekly fashion/make-up blog and is a guest presenter on the Key 103 breakfast show.
She is currently preparing for her role in Be My Baby which will be performed at the Lowry Theatre (Manchester) as well as other venues throughout the UK.
The £10 million College is a key part of the Vision Tameside Project which aims to regenerate the borough. The College includes: drama and photography studios, science facilities and a 200 seat theatre. The College opened its doors for students in October 2015.
Councillor Kieran Quinn, Executive Leader of Tameside Council, said: “A new college is one of the best investments Tameside Council can make. Clarendon provides first-class facilities for our young people to study and enable them to skill-up and get the knowledge and training they need to be successful. It’s been well reported that GCSE results in Tameside have improved significantly this year. The new Clarendon College is another fantastic place for our young people to continue their education without having to leave the borough.”
