Tameside Council can put you in contact with a number of opportunities to help your business grow and expand, which range from business support to grant and loan arrangements. Listed below is a summary of the various initiatives and links to additional information.
What funding is available?
Tameside Grant Finder means businesses can now register for free access to a user-friendly funding search tool that helps them to identify external funding opportunities for themselves. Open 4 Business enables businesses to search for EU, Government, LEP and local authority-provided grants, loans, venture capital funds and tax credits.

- Fully maintained – all funding information is kept fully up to date and accurate.
Open 4 Business is a one stop shop of all the funding and support on offer to help local companies succeed and grow – vital in a time of challenging conditions for enterprise.
Each year, hundreds of millions of pounds in grants, loans, awards and other funds are on offer to help businesses improve productivity, buy equipment, employ and train staff, carry out innovative R&D, diversify into new markets and much, much more.
Open 4 Business lets local entrepreneurs search for free through all these funds available to them, from major European Union and Government programmes, to regional development schemes, local authority funds and prestigious business award competitions.

Tameside Council has a range of schemes available to businesses in the borough. These include:
Tameside Trade Grant – A grant of up to £1,000 for apprentices or new start businesses who are Tameside residents and aged between 16 and 24 years.
Tameside Youth Employment Scheme – The Council have two offers:
Apprenticeship Offer – to fund 6 months wages for an apprentice opportunity
Non-Apprenticeship Offer – to fund 6 months wages for a non-apprenticeship offers.
Tameside Ex-Forces Pilot Scheme – The Council offers to pay 6 months wages for an ex-forces job opportunity.
Tameside Business Grant for Employers – Closed until April 2016.

Co Angel Investment
Co Angel Investment, funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, is an exciting and innovative service. It is an not for profit organisation founded to fill the funding gap for businesses in the early stages of development.

DWP Enterprise Allowance
Supports local residents into self-employment by offering people who have been on Job Seekers Allowance for 6months or more a 26 week allowance, access to a mentor and loan fund up to £1,000.
The Business Growth Hub
Did you know that the Business Growth Hub (BGH) was set up to help businesses across Greater Manchester grow and fulfil their potential? Many of their services are free for you to access as a Tameside business.
BGH services are open to new starts-ups right through to well established companies. They offer a whole range of joined-up business services, from digital support to help accessing finance, and resource efficiency to tailored support for textile and manufacturing businesses and even business mentoring. Their only criteria is that growth and job creation are a key part of the business’s agenda.

Access to Finance
The Business Growth Hub, part of Manchester Growth Company, provides an ‘access to finance’ (A2F) support and advice service for SMEs across Greater Manchester, whether they are seeking finance for the first time, have been declined by a lender and/or are looking for additional sources of funding.

Northwest Business Angels
The Business Growth Hub’s Northwest Business Angels (NWBA) network helps companies to become ‘investment ready’ by preparing them to meet with investors.
The NWBA team matches growing companies seeking finance with private investors looking for profitable investment opportunities. With its network of 350 investors, NWBA offer companies the opportunity to obtain funding by pitching their business at investor events.
The network provides firms with funding between £10,000 and £500,000, and is one of the UK’s longest and well-established angel networks.

e-Learning with HMRC – Becoming an employer
HMRC have developed an e-Learning course about starting a business, income tax, national insurance, and running a payroll.

Mentorsme connects companies with mentoring organisations that can support and guide their growth.
The Business Growth Accelerator helps SMEs with a turnover of less than £40m to achieve growth of 20% year on year.
Experts work with business leaders to tackle issues such as: developing and delivering a tailored growth strategy, becoming investment ready and securing finance, commercialising innovation effectively, developing leadership and management capability.
Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS)
MAS provides manufacturing business support for companies based in England, helping them to improve and grow.
The service is designed to help manufacturers streamline processes, reduce waste, become more energy efficient and generally improve and grow their business.
