Robinsons Brewers, based in Stockport, have created a series of three Free Hospitality Courses. These are available to anyone interested in joining the hospitality trade or wanting to expand their knowledge. The courses available usually RRP between £120 + VAT and £140 + VAT. The only cost needing to be paid is that for the examination, and this is only £25. There is no catch; they even throw in a brewery tour and lunch. The courses were introduced in order to raise the standards and service in the area.
The Cellar Training (ABCQ) and Personal License Holder (APLH) begin March 3rd and are run in conjunction with CPL Training. Places are available on a first come, first served basis. If you would like more information, or to book onto a course, please call 0845 8331835 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Get Involved in the Greenpower Challenge
The Greenpower Challenge was developed in order to challenge current views on the Engineering Industry. It has been stated that the UK will need 830,000 engineering professionals and 450,000 engineering technicians. In order to change views, Greenpower Education Trust partnered up with Siemens plc, Mantra Learning and the Greater Manchester Learning Provider, and created a fun challenging way to involve children with engineering.
The challenge allows secondary students to design, develop and create a one seat sports car. At the end of the challenge, one student has the responsibility of racing the car against other competitor schools. Participating Greater Manchester schools also have the task of arranging sponsorship from local businesses to finance the creation of the race car. The teams will compete in the Greenpower North West Heat (Aintree 23rd September), where they will participate in two races; the top three competitors will enter the National Final (Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby, 11th October).
This is a great opportunity for your students to get involved in an engineering experience.

Did you know that 90% of apprentices stay in employment after finishing their apprenticeship?
Employment and Skills are vital to a prosperous Tameside – people are our greatest asset. Apprenticeships are a great way to securing employment whilst learning the skills you need and gaining real experience. As some of you may know, National Apprenticeship Week runs from the 9th to 13th March 2015. The aim of the week is to specifically celebrate Apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on local businesses, economy and individuals. In order to show our support, Tameside Council have partnered up with Key 103, Positive Steps and Age UK to organise a fun, fact filled drop in event taking place on Saturday 14th March 2015. As part of the event, we have arranged for the Key 103 Apprentice Bus to visit Ashton Market Square. The Bus will be open to students that are interested in learning more about the benefits of enrolling or taking part in an apprenticeship. There will be opportunities to sample some ‘have a go sessions’ giving people a taster of some apprentice related course activities. There will also be a chance to a speak to a specialist careers advisor and Key 103 workers who have specialist apprenticeship knowledge and will be able explain what type of apprenticeship opportunities available locally. You will also hear from some of our existing apprentices within Tameside. If you know any 16-24 year olds who may be interested in attending, help us spread the word and tell them come along on 14th March between 10am- 4pm to find out more.
If you’d like more information about National Apprenticeship Week, please see below.

Denton is set to celebrate its European connections this March with a huge town festival. The Denton Euro Festival – which is being organised entirely by the voluntary Denton Town Twinning Association – will take place on Saturday 14 March on Denton Civic Square.
The square will see local and foreign bands and musicians performing all day whilst accommodating an undercover St. Patrick’s Bar, a family funfair, an International Food Market and a large marquee housing crafters, makers and bakers.
George Newton, Chairman of the Association, said “This kind of event is unprecedented in Denton. It will be a huge occasion for the town to celebrate its links in France, Germany and Italy.”
Guests from Denton’s French and German twin towns, Montigny-le-Bretonneux and Kierspe, will be around for the weekend. “Fo Ksa Bouge,” a musical trio of magicians from Montigny, will be performing and both towns will take out stalls to sell products typical of their countries. Also in the town for the first time will be guests from Marostica near Venice in Italy, who have been developing links with Denton for several years.
George Newton further added “we have scores of stallholders already booked selling arts, crafts and delicious hot and cold food from around Europe. Not only that, but you can enjoy all the fun from inside the St. Patrick’s Beer Tent!”
Hyde-based micro brewery Tweed Brewing Co will also be making an appearance behind the bar where a selection of locally made ales will be available for £2.50 a pint.
Alongside the main festival on Saturday, there is a Music Night at Denton Festival Hall on Friday 13 March (evening) and a St. Patrick’s Ceilidh at Dukinfield Town Hall on Saturday 14 March (evening). These events are open to everyone and tickets can be purchased via www.EventJoy.com/e/DentonEuroFest.
The event is being funded through fundraising from the Association and generous sponsorships from RBS, New Charter Housing & Denton North East Councillors.
The Festival takes place 12-7pm around Denton Civic Square on Saturday 14th March.

Denton Euro Festival will take place on Saturday 14th March 2015 on and around Denton Civic Square. The event promises to be a spectacular occasion with thousands of attendees. The Festival will run from 12-7pm and comprise of a large stage for local and European bands to perform, a Craft Marquee where local crafters and makers will sell their products, a family funfair, a St. Patrick’s Bar housed in a marquee central to the square and a European Food & Artisan Market on the outskirts of the square to feed all the hungry bellies.
We’re emailing you not only to invite you to this fantastic occasion but also on how to benefit from it. There’ll be thousands of people out and about in Denton on the day and we hope that the local economy can benefit from this.
We’ll be publishing a European Festival Magazine and distributing thousands of copies free of charge leading up to and on the day. The magazine will be professionally put together and printed to a high quality. Advertising space can be bought in the magazine from as little as £35.00 (including free artwork).
If you feel like you can go the extra mile and sponsor an aspect of the event – perhaps the staging equipment or the beer tent or craft marquee – we would love to hear from you. The event is being organised by the Town Twinning Association, and contrary to the myths, we actually don’t get any money from the council – we fundraise really hard to put on events like this!
